EETN is a one-day event on Artificial Intelligence in the Public Sector
On the initiative of the European project AI4GOV-X which aims to accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence and the digital transformation of public administration, a round-table discussion titled “Advancing Digital Transformation in the Public Administration in the era of Artificial Intelligence” was held.
The event took place on 5 February 2026 in Athens, at the premises of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), and brought together representatives from key public-sector bodies, such as the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, the Hellenic Parliament, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Special Secretariat for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance, the Legal Council of the State, as well as universities and AI research centers.
Within the framework of the event, the challenges of AI in public administration were presented, along with AI4GOV-X actions to speed up AI adoption and new training approaches for the public sector. Particular emphasis was placed on discussing strategies and future actions for training staff in the Greek public administration in digital transformation and AI.
The Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society (EETN) was represented by Giannis Charalabidis, Professor at the University of the Aegean and EETN’s Head of Outreach and Network Development, who delivered an intervention titled “The Manifesto of AI-Enabled Governance,” contributing to the discussion on the responsible, transparent, and effective use of AI in the public sector.
